For this month’s Foodie Pen Pal, I was matched up with Emma. She’s a reader, so no blog to link to (two months in a row).
I was super excited when the box appeared. It is so much fun trying to imagine what wonderful goodies will be tucked away inside.
This month did not disappoint!
Looking at the photo reminds me that I dug into quite a bit of this already. The Snickerdoodles are seriously amazing! And, they are gluten free and free from the most common allergens. That made me think that my stomach would probably be able to handle them without rebelling against me. So, I put a couple of them in a plastic bag to use as fuel for my most recent 20 mile training run. The verdict: they worked wonderfully! No stomach distress, and they tasted delicious. The problem is that they are so delicious, I’m not sure they will last until my next training run. (Does anyone have a Trader Joe’s nearby? Wanna send me some more?)
I also had the peanut butter cups. I was planning to save it for a special treat. I guess that happened when I needed something sweet to eat after lunch the other day. It was good, but really sweet. I should have just had one of them, but I somehow managed to polish off both of them.
I also opened up the tin of chocolate nibs. Those are great. They are chocolatey enough to satisfy my craving in just a few pieces.
I was really excited to get the kale chips. The nacho cheese flavor is so good. It had me thinking I was eating Cheetos, but these were so much better. I may or may not have finished most of the bag in one sitting.
I’m really looking forward to trying the freeze dried raspberries. I picked so many raspberries this summer, my fingers might still be a little pink. But, I love them!
I think the Trek mix is going to make a nice snack for me to take to class, now that school has started. My classes on Mondays and Thursdays go through lunch, so this will help keep the edge off so my growling stomach doesn’t distract my classmates.
Don’t you want to join in the fun? Head on over to The Lean Green Bean and sign up!
Now, don’t you wanna join in the fun?! Here are the Foodie Penpals details:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.
