January miles: 121, great start to 2013! That is my highest mileage since September (right before my marathon). All 121 miles were on the treadmill.
One of my goals for 2013 was to work on strengthening my core by doing planks. I manage to work on this a few times a week. At the beginning of the month, I could hold a plank for just over a minute. I’m up to 1:50. However, I’m not doing any side planks. I tried them once, for the novelty, and quickly realized that they are approximately 4,287% harder than regular planks. Since I’m a lazy runner, I haven’t tried them again. Maybe I’ll do that during February.
January long runs: I did a few 8 milers and one 9.5 mile run. I have a couple longer runs coming up as I get into half marathon training.
January races: None. 😦
Upcoming races: I don’t think I have any races coming up in February. But I’m already signed up for two of them in March!
